New recipe 2013: finally a teenager!
Wayan is the beer that Teo Musso has dedicated to his first daughter. In the meantime, Wayan has become a beautiful teenager, with a determined and “fiery” personality. This why her dad felt it was about time to update, with a few adjustments, the recipe of one of the most beloved Baladin beers.
5 cereals: barley, spelt, wheat, rye and buckwheat. 9 spices, of which 5 peppers, in a renewed mix. Fizzy and refreshing, with a light, slightly cloudy color. Its aromas are reminiscent of the countryside and sun-soaked citrus orchards, and perfectly combine with the notes of orange blossoms, pear and bergamot. Its elegance goes well with shellfish and fish dishes, white meat and fresh cheese.

I had the pleasure to follow the eccentric & visionary beer brewer Teo Musso & Baladin throughout the fair Salone del Gusto & Terra Madre 2012.

Baladin is first and foremost good craft beer, but it is also a world where the taste for good things, ideas and dreams to share intertwine. Many Baladin lovers want to get in contact with us, and more and more often come and visit the brewery, the pub in Piozzo and the aging cellar. Unfortunately, though, not everyone has the time to travel to Piedmont: that’s why we have decided to open the doors of the “world of Baladin” to everyone, with a new website and more interaction on social networks.
“Cola Baladin” is a soft drink which contains no artificial coloring or preservative and is produced with the kola nuts bought from the Kola Slow Food Presidium in Sierra Leone. The money paid for the kola nuts, plus part of the revenues from the sales of the drink, are a small economic resource to further support the project itself. The recipe is 100% natural and uses amazing ingredients: oranges from Gargano, lemons from the Amalfi Coast and myrtle-leaf oranges from Savona give it the citrus flavor.
The last addition to the KIKKE BALADIN “family”, these chocolates are the result of the cooperation with Sabadì, where Simone Sabaini - the man behind the company based in Modica - and Teo have come up with the idea of creating six tasty products which perfectly combine with our six beers from the Classic range.
We are happy to announce that Baladin won the title “BREWERY OF THE YEAR 2013”.
This amazing result was decreed by UNIONBIRRAI that every year organize a national contest called “Birra dell’Anno” “Beer of the Year” where more than 200 microbrewery propose the best selection of their product that are judged by an national and international jury.
The brewery that obtain the maximum score with its beers won the main title.
