Guide to Italian Beers 2027: Major recognitions for Birra Baladin and the Open Baladin venues!

Friday 29th of May, the new edition of the Guida alle Birre d’Italia 2027 by Slow Food Editore was presented.

Now in its tenth edition and eighteenth year, this volume represents a highly valuable tool for promoting Italian craft beer, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Many anniversaries, but above all a shared journey—one that we are proud to have experienced and, in part, helped inspire.

We thank those who make the creation of this extraordinary tool possible. It is loved by enthusiasts and useful for anyone wishing to learn, explore, or simply find their way to enjoy the work of many artisans, masterfully described, just as their beers are carefully reviewed.

The two main contributors to the success of this guide, to whom the entire movement is grateful, are Luca Giaccone and Eugenio Signoroni—editors who coordinate a team of 130 collaborators throughout Italy.

Birra Baladin proudly confirms its Chiocciola award, given to the “…best breweries in Italy… that express a strong production identity…”. But that’s not all: it has also received the Filiera Award, dedicated to those who, like us, are committed to producing their own raw materials. For us, this is a source of pride, as the protection and development of an Italian agricultural supply chain for beer production lies at the heart of our work.

Four beers have been named Etichette Imperdibili: Nazionale Gluten Free, Soraya, Xyauyù Fumè 2019, and Xyauyù 2020.

The guide also recognizes excellence in beer service and hospitality with the Locali Eccellenti (excellent pubs) award.

Open Baladin Torino and Open Baladin Roma have received this important recognition!

We are proud that these two iconic locations for the brand continue to spread the culture of craft beer—not only by serving beers from Piozzo, but also by giving space to many Italian breweries, which find in our pubs an opportunity to be discovered, contributing to an offering shaped by the creativity of our movement.

Thanks to our team in Piozzo and to the staff of all our Open pubs, who work with passion and dedication, helping a dream remain strong and grounded in reality for over 30 years.

Freely quoting the Guide, we would like to pay tribute to the person who made all this possible—Teo!

“There are producers who follow history and pioneers who write it… Teo has never stopped shaking up the brewing landscape with initiatives that have set the course for an entire generation of producers… His is a gentle yet unstoppable revolution, where the most advanced technology bows to the rhythms of the land to define the new standard of contemporary beer.”
